Am I the only one who got the impression that Haley was cheating on Hotch because of that phone call in “In Name And Blood” (3x02)? That scene was so subtle, it made me wonder.
I think that’s the reason why he chose to go back to the BAU. Look at his face when Hayley’s cellphone rings. He is profiling the shit out of her. He knows right in that moment it doesn’t matter what he does anymore.
Hotch tells Strauss later, “Why would I ever want to leave the BAU?” and then goes home to am empty house and… doesn’t seem surprised. He already knew the team was the only family he had left, and he wasn’t about to lose them too.

Derek once took Jack to the park. He was walking with him, hand in hand to an ice cream stand when an angry parent came up to him, screaming about how he was abducting a child. Derek pulled out his FBI badge and set the man straight. Jack never looked so happy in Derek’s arms.

Can I just talk about this guy and this kid for a second
I have this headcanon that everyone else on the team and even Jessica
are all second-choice babysitters
and that when he knows Morgan is available Hotch calls him first
because he trusts Morgan with his life, and Jack is his life
and Morgan loves that kid so goddamn much
because even though Jack was hiding at the time, he heard the gunshots that killed his mom
and having watched his own father get killed, that’s something Morgan can relate with that none of the others can
I love this scene with David and Hotch in Cold Comfort and the look in Hotch’s eyes..
